Aperio, a company has made a breakthrough on medical imaging criteria
The picture you’ll see below is actually a tissue of a breast cancer. The image can now be seen this clear, which is made possible by using a high-power oil immersion ScanScope slide-scanning system made by Aperio, their scanners can create very-high quality images in minutes which has broken into the record of the terrapixel barrier with a resolution of 1,095,630 x 939,495 with a file size of 143 GB (that’s more than my 2 HDD’s space combined ^_^’) .

With an image this big, the company decided to create a new format for the TIFF(Tagged Image File Format) image format exceeding the size limit of 4,000 MB, the new format will be called BigTIFF and is now offered to the public domain.

As a graphic designer, you really have to find some photos for your designs, but what if you’re low on budget and really needs those high-resolution but can’t afford to buy them, that’s not a problem you can always try these sites.
Be careful whether those photos have licenses in them. before you go copying and pasting them to your designs you must first check whether they are royalty free and if you’re going to use them commercially. what will photographers do for a living if you’ll just take their picture and put them to your designs without their permissions, so I’ve made a list of “free stock photos” and also “royalty free” be sure to check the permissions before downloading them:
1. Stock Exchange – the leading stock photography site
2. A Digital Dreamer – Free Royalty Free Stock Photography: Unlike other sites with free images, these are also royalty free.
3. Image*After – is a large online free photo collection. You can download and use any image or texture from our site and use it in your own work, either personal or commercial.
4.Photo Gen – Still paying for your photos and images? Forget royalty-free – try totally-FREE. Photogen stock photos are FREE for commercial and personal use.
5.Free Range – Offers stock photos that can be used for commercially. the images are very high-res that are at least 2400 * 1600.
I know there are a few more, If you’d like me to include a site that you know of, just send me a message and I’ll include them for you but I’ll be strict and check them myself first. they must be “free to download” and “royalty free.”

why 13? why not 12…i don’t know it’s just my lucky number. anyways, I’ll be posting my 13 goals before the year 2007 ends.
1. have my own bank account
2. upgrade my PC. whether it be RAM, Video Card, or a totally new one.
3. buy myself a camera – I’m choosing between Nikon and Olympus
4. finally have an intuos wacom 3
5. be more responsible and organize – this would be probably one of those lifetime goals, but I’ll start being one before 2008
6. own a company
7. tone down my waistline back to it’s original 28
8. wake up early everyday.
9. get any of my sites at least a PR on the next update. so hear me google!
10. read more, write more.
11. learn the basics of PHP – I wanted to learn stuff like those dynamically-loaded and database-driven websites
12. travel outside the country
13. have a passive income online
I’ll post the goals each time they’re achieved. hmm… now, where to start? ^^

Since this is my first post and my first time to have a blog , let me introduce myself first, I’m John Breo Reyes a graphic/web designer and a frustrated article writer/hacker/game developer and many more, anyways this space will be my blog, digital playground, and my online laboratory in which i’ll blog about anything I learn, interesting stuff I found on the web and I’ll also post some of my drawings/Illustrations and renders as a graphic designer. this will also be a training for me to practice article writing. I hope to learn more now that I have my own blog. ^^
